Arusha National Park is smaller in area as compared to some of its cousins like Serengeti or Tarangire National Park, but boasts in varied, spectacular landscapes and rich fascinating wildlife. Unique Features Of Arusha National Park:

  • The Mountain View of Mt. Meru and Mt. Kilimanjaro. The view both from the top and the cliffs of Mount Meru can be summed up in one word: splendid. It is a dormant stratovolcano and is the centerpiece of Arusha National Park. From the top of Mount Meru or even from a lower altitude, you can see the snow caps of Mount Kilimanjaro which are splendid as well.
  • Mt. Meru Waterfall. Mt. Meru waterfall is recommended as the best day trip location in Arusha. The narrow path through the lush landscapes and villages will lead you to the top where you can experience a whole new world altogether.
  • Momella Lakes. Momella Lakes are made up of seven different lakes all of whom are located inside the park and are fed by seven different underground water sources. The interesting fact is that all different lakes are of different color due to differing mineral content support growth of different algae. Flamingos flock to these lakes even if it is not primarily used for drinking.
  • Ngurdoro CarterReferred to as mini Ngorongoro, this volcanic caldera stands in the middle of montane forest and a wide marshy floor is enclosed by rocky cliffs of the crater which buffalos and others use as grazing land.
  • Diverse Wildlife. Notable animals in this park include cape buffalos, lions, colobus monkeys, snow white baboons, zebras, and an impressive giraffe population.
  • Flamingos.Flamingos are indeed the specialty of this park. The pink-colored flamingos present in astounding number in this park leave visitors stunned.

With Arusha National Park, you don’t have to travel too far after landing to find yourself surrounded by the African bush. Canoeing, walking safaris, and game drives are some of the best things to do here and make for the perfect start to any northern circuit safari.
